2025 is the year for pushing boundaries and taking the artistry of hair to a new level. Who knew that the creative side of hairdressing could result in optical illusions, one of them being the visual effect of hair sitting on top of itself?
At Your Hairdresser, top rated hairdressers in Putney , this was achieved by cutting a box bob with a square fringe which naturally created a two-dimensional effect of the upper part of the hair looking as if it’s separate and sitting on top of the bottom part of the hair. The upper layer was coloured a coral red shade on a dark purple base, producing a “beam of light” effect to further enhance the “hair-ception” illusion.
Organic colours by Natulique were used, creating an interesting, unspoken contrast between their natural origins and unorthodox use in the bold, edgy look.
Stanimir Hristov, the owner, explains: “Crafting this look was like a scientific experiment – you weren’t sure what would come out of it until the end. Luckily, the unintentional optical effect added to the unconventional nature of the look and made it even more multidimensional than anticipated. The hair looks displaced, but in place at the same time due to the precise cutting of the box bob that seems to keep everything together – we call this a visible disconnection. A truly inspiring era for the transcendence of hair beyond the norm!”
